I keep the top on the screws that normally hold the case on...I have had 1 bad clog (my fault... retracted a bunch and let it sit.) so you could very well be correct that is is causing more clogs...I know it created way more dust...my #1 idler arm could help this with it's extra deep bite...the motor will bind before the filament slips.

I printed a set of these http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:34887 (Solidoodle Case Riser)

A little flimsy I must say but a good proof of concept, I was printing with the crystaline clear which is very brittle and this allowed me to use it without it snapping before going into the extruder.
I think an improved version of these would be the go at some stage.. still using mine though.

Print and fit that bush, I did and have had no problems.

Also, I have found having my spool on a holder about 1ft behind the printer creates a more streamlined path for the plastic to follow, if the plastic is directly behind the printer it has to bend 90degrees to enter the machine, with it sitting back a bit its almost horizontal when it enters the case.

I am not having any jam problems printing with the cover on. However, I am noticing that the filament is constantly rubbing against the powder coat finish which is creating a fine powder coat dust inside the printer (I am noticing the dust building up on the fans). I am not sure if this will be an issue in the long run or not...

Hello ErroneousBosch,
I didn't have cover but even with out it for me the original position obliged the filament to have a poor curvature.
That is the reason why i change the position of the filament.
See : thingiverse.com/thing:36931
Since this time i have no more problem with feeding.
But if you want to keep your top, this solution is not yours. But may be you'll can try this solution : .thingiverse.com/thing:34887
Sincerly

So I have printed a few things and <3 my SD2. Made some glass beds out of the gate and they make printing EASY (though getting the vertical adjustment right was a bitch). But Does anyone else have more jams with the cover on? I suspect it is the angle the filament is coming into the extruder feed, but would really like to use the cover when printing. If I remove the cover and have the filament come in straight from the top (over the back of the frame), no jamming, while if I have the cover on, the advance wheel will grind the filament to dust, which requires dismantling and cleaning and interrupted prints.

Thoughts?
