What's the difference between normal glass and borosilicate glass?

Borosilicate glass aka  pyrex  is designed to be heated and withstand heat stress. Regular glass has a tendency to crack when heat stressed.
borosilicate glass is available from several sources including Mcmaster carr.

I replaced the glass with a cheap one from a local hardware store, but may upgrade to a borosilicate glass in the future.

Your probably going to have to get some borosilicate glass cut to size and buy a heater for it off ebay or somewhere if you can't get any response out of XYZ for a replacement part.

Is the heater element separate from the glass? Can it be removed from the glass?
