meanwhile i did a bit or dremel action yesterday night, (30 minutes or so).
I'm pretty sure just by sanding i could get close to their result but it would take too long, hopefully the acetone going to give the finish look!

To get closer to the Shapeways quality level your going to need to print at 1mm layers and Excellent (aka slow) if using XYZware.

After that you will need to use vapor smoothing (after sanding off any support marks and other imperfections). There are long acetone vapor smoothing threads in this forum.

The combination of those two things will get you very close to the quality level your trying to match.

this is the first model i printed (after bunch of bad tests). this is at 200, with support and it's around 5cm tall. around 1.5hours of printing.
on the last photo my print is next to the one i ordered from Shapeways in sandstone, next step is to get my print as close as i can to it.
