How can I easily disconnect the led lights inside my SD?

Im assuming its the 2 black wires marked 'LD' on the board.
Is it safe to simply unplug that connection when I do not want the lights on?
Will it throw an error if the machine is printing?

Ive got a battery operated, hand held black light that ive mounted inside the machine with magnets, to get the full effect id like to disconnect the lights when im printing with glow in the dark filament...

Maybe to be safe you could just cover them with black tape.  Disconnect later after you have an better answer.
