I also tested the supply with a voltmeter, and got a steady 12v +- 0.10v

Too bad I cannot use that to replace the shield (it can work at larger power consumption). so atleast my computer is connecting to the arduinos properly. I also tried a handful of mini USB cables and they all worked (well the nano kept giving the same error)

When I try flashing the nano with the "Bare minimum" firmware example, it kept giving me this error (same as old photo, but with new firmware...)

(I assume your speaking of the D2 labeled diode on the shield.

The power light does turn on when disconnected from the board.

The power light does not turn on when board plugged in and power switched on or off (You can see the PSU plugged in to the right)
(See 2nd)

The board does get very hot (way hot to touch, more than 70 C (in comparison to filastruder barrel) when switched on in the spot the rod is pointing to (See third)

]]> Tue, 05 Aug 2014 21:35:56 +0000 https://www.soliforum.com/post/62205/#p62205 <![CDATA[Re: Filawinder Problems]]> https://www.soliforum.com/post/62088/#p62088 When you plug the Nano into USB, does it light up then, but not when it is on external power?  The compiling error might happen if you have the PID and QTR libraries installed in Arduino's library directory.  They are also included in the firmware folder, so having them in both places causes an error.  Take them out of the Library folder and see if it works.

If the Nano lights up on USB but not on board power, then there might be a problem with the board.  I power up each board after I plug the Nano in to make sure it lights up, so I'm not sure what might have happened between here and there.

If the Nano won't light up either way, I'll send a new one.

I have tried switching the potentiometer pins, in case I soldered it incorrectly.
Then I checked the pot with a multimeter and it showed to be fine. I switched it out with several other pots I had (between 10k and 25k)

I then tried reflashing the default firmware (I believe 9a) but I kept getting a Compiling error from the code.

What am I doing wrong?
