However, I imagine that most new machine will get this function built in sooner or later.

The thing I am most curious is if it can handle the fuse without making a knot on it when it becomes fused so there wont be any neck downs or over sized dimensions.

Ended up being $81.10 US Dollars, and considering that scrap PTFE blocks cost $14 off EBay in that size, I can't complain about spending the money for one that will hopefully work well.

What I'm really curious about is if it will allow you to splice dissimilar filament together. I for one would be highly interested in splicing HIPS and ABS together with some precision. A device like that is the only way I can think of that it might be possible to do a print that had dissolving interior supports on a single extrusion machine like I own.

If your splices were close to where they needed to be and you created a "waste filament pillar" next to an object that you needed the dissolving supports on, I'd think it would work.

While I did check out the video, I'm wondering if there are other ways of doing this. I'm going to start assembling my Filastruder this weekend, which will give me the ability to change colors and such on the same spool, but the precision that this thing has it much higher for such work.

Opinions, comments or if as usual all the rest of you have something that works better already, I'd like to hear about it.
