The cutout does not have to face straight up, so don't worry about that.

The barrel rotating indicates one of three things:

1.) insufficient temperature/plastic not melted
2.) improper assembly (steps 6 and 21 ignored, uprights placed too close together, resulting in thrust load pushing on the motor)
3.) possible jam/clog in the nozzle (very rare)

Ah gotcha. So some torsion is normal.

It might be nice if there was a way to attach the nipple with a known amount of torque. Not sure how you could grab it with a torque wrench, but would be nice.

I can never tighten the barrel enough that the auger won't spin it the first time it is run. To try runs the risk of twisting the barrel. I just accept that the barrel will probably turn. Once it has turned 90 degrees, or close to it, I unbolt the flange, turn the whole front assembly back 90 degrees and bolt it back on.

Hi folks,

Just got my filastruder working for the first time last night! I'm pretty excited. I ran it for an hour, to start purging the contaminents.

However, the nipple started to rotate. Looking at things from the front (Facing towards the cap) the nipple + cap + insulation all rotated about 45 degrees clockwise.

Should I use some clamps and try to complete the rotation? Should I rotate it back? Should I leave as is? How do I avoid this rotation in the future?

Thank you!!
