Your printhead has to be clean on the little bump that makes contact with the edges of the metal points on the bed that it calibrates against.

If your last print DIDN'T hit the bed, you can use the method that follows. If it did, you need to crank the screws down enough so that it WON'T hit the bed if you attempt a print.

Make sure the bed is clean. Then start a demo print, before it does anymore than put the first line of the print "on" the bed, turn the switch off. Move the head off the bed and put a piece of paper on the bed (clean the line of plastic off and let it cool first), then slide the head back over it and adjust the screws so that the head just scrapes the paper no matter where you move the head to.

You'll now be close to having it leveled and can run the printers onboard calibration. Once you've passed the calibration, your ready to put the glue on the bed and print something. You can also see youtube video's of XYZ's method. It's the same except for getting "close" with paper, their method takes longer since you just randomly turn the screws until you get it close.

For solid information and the ability to download both the released stock firmware and software as well as modified and alternative software, head over to Voltivo's forum voltivo.com/forum/davinci. You can probably also get the "best" information on the board used from there as well since they needed that info to adapt repetier to the Da Vinci.

I don't know what type it is, since my machine isn't apart at the moment. But the place to get such things is generally http://www.digikey.com/. Digikey has pretty much any parts you may need and at decent enough prices for something that is cheap to start with.

Just as a random part I looked at pricing for, a 200mm cable with the slide-in type ends was $3.90 US Dollars. You'd have to count the wires you needed, if it has the metal slide contacts on both side (as memory serves, the side at the motherboard does) and how long you need to replace what you have. It would probably be easiest to entirely remove the damaged one you have and measure it to match up to Digikeys stock. If you have to go longer on what you buy that won't be a problem, you can tuck the excess in the back panel by the motherboard.

Well, no guesses as to what's wrong until you can get the LCD rolling. I'd try replacing the ribbon cable first, since that is a cheap repair to do.

If it's working normally, you get 1 short beep on startup. Then lesser beep when you select things in the LCD menu. Interior light should stay on for over a minute after you power it on, not just flash.
