I am having yet another issue with this, similar to others but dif. last used printer worked fine. since then I did a couple things in puter unrelated to printer (installed Skype and uninstalled now, connected a palm pilot sync cable and cleaned up some file folders like pics, music etc nothing related to any Solidoodle programs. also tested new ultrabay Parallel/ serial port adapter a while back. so tried disconnecting from dock station and only plugged in Solidoodle printer USB today also. Im using an IBM T61 laptop running windows XP3.
just got an 3D order from 3Dhubs for a print job 2 days ago and was slicing the files in repetier host/slic3r and it froze at 26mins 31 secs but rendered a G-code without closing the counter box like it normally does when done.
I needed to replace the Kaptan tape on print bed and swap filament color roll so attempted to click the connect button so I could lower bed and heat head but soon as I clicked it popped up error box saying "unhandled Exception occurred in your application, access to Com5 port denied" with details list and continue and quit buttons. I have tried all fixes listed trying to fix this to no avail and am out of ideas. need help ASAP or I will loose the 3Dhubs job and get poor rating so this is costing me money now! NOT HAPPY AT ALL WITH SOLIDOODLEs non tech support on ALL their hardware and open source software with zero support in any language. tried reinstalling RH, drivers etc also searched all folders for any unfinished slice jobs or other things using port, checked device manager and saw com5 come and go when unplugging USB also heard board noises when restarting puter so printer is being seen just not allowed to communicate. this crap is getting old seems every time I want/need to use the thing it gets retarded over some other dumb lil thing. seems they are rigged to fail often. been banging head 48hrs now need fresh ideas. will call Solidoodle in AM but dont expect much from them like b4. seems purchasers are self tech support. wish I had known b4 buying. had old Ford T-birds that didnt fail as often when used. sure wouldnt try leaving it print un-attended.
