Hmm...
* Frame design looks not very rigid (cantilevers etc... :Z)
* Price a little bit too-good-to-be-true (would be difficult to buy component parts from alibaba at that price)
* Wild overconfidence in progress of project (claim they're "95% complete" - must involve some level of unawareness...)
Not sure I'd be convinced enough to even buy it for the components before they've put beta test production units out.

I'm seriously considering this one: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/co … 3d-printer

The value for money seems too good to be true! DRV8825 stretch goal likely to be reached, RAMPS graphic lcd, 76 Oz. Nema 17s etc... And not to mention the 15"*15"*15" build area! For a PLA machine (unless paying for heated build plate which even then sounds ridiculous on that scale) this sounds amazing! My only concern is the shipping cost. They haven't given any numbers yet for that. I personally wish they just shipped it as a kit, as it would save on shipping and labor costs AND be fun to build.

My plan is in the land of free time and money to build my own second machine:
* Alu extrusion frame (rigidity++)
* Ultimaker-style axes (maybe separate drive and support rails to allow for LB's; I know them well)
* Dual bowden extruders (these can be done with 1.75mm filament, right?)
* RUMBA or smoothieboard
I reckon it would be a fun project, but before that I've got a laser cutter and a valve amplifier to finish...

I am building my own. Decided to go with a delta so that I could enlarge the build area if needed. Right now I am making it 350mm x 350mm x 350mm. Using the smoothieboard 5x so that I can upgrade to dual extruder (e3d) after I get it working. This way I can build it and modify it at a pretty decent cost.

I was playing with the idea of the Flashforge dreamer (semi-automated print bed leveling, dual extruders, enclosed area), but went with Cel's Robox printer. Got lucky and managed to get a beta unit prior to their September launch, and can't say that I think I could be happier. I'd check them out if I were you, it's honestly a breath of fresh air.

My personal opinion is to delve deeper into the modifications department. It is very possible to get dual extruders on a Solidoodle. Filastruder offer The Kracken which offers FOUR nozzles.
There is also a thread on here regarding Simplify3D software which slices, commands, and even repairs files. After buying a new Solidoodle, paying to make the mods, and buying the new software, you would still have enough for several cases of craft beer or imported cheeses.

Belts are also eliminated on the forum as many users converted to Spectra Line.

I have SD3 and i am thinking of getting another 3d printer, but don't know which ones to consider.

My requirements are:

Build volume 8x8x8 or bigger with heated bed
Dual nozzles - goal is to print in ABS or nylon with PLA or PVA support
Good mechanical stability; don't want to deal with loose belts, wobbly rods etc.
Bonus points if it is running open source on controller (marlin etc) and decent slicer like slicer or some other type that does not restrict fill density etc.
Price range up to $2k if quality of the construction is worth it.

Thanks ahead
