Sometimes you get lucky with a simple solution! Here is a picture, explanation follows:

I was looking at alternative mounts and I remembered this one by Boz:

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:178102

I realized that this mount will in fact fit the E3D V6, but I didn't like how the bottom is two pieces that make it stick out further and you have to go into the comments to get a version that would work with the lawsy carriages that I and many others here use. Well, it turns out that if you print his mount, there is a small piece at the bottom of the main piece that will fit the opening on ward's mount. I have separated this piece and attached it to this post. Print it.

Then take ward's mount and test fit the holding bracket into it. You will see that it almost perfectly fits, and a sharp knife can take off the small corner that conflicts, just be careful. You will need a decently long M3 screw for the right side of the bracket because it goes all the way thru into the extruder motor, but luckily I had several laying around. Then take your drill and drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than an M3 screw into the left side of ward's mount where the bracket lines up. You must make it smaller than the threads because there is no nut or threaded hole on the other side so the threads of your screw need to grip the plastic.

Assemble everything and you will see that it is ROCK SOLID with absolutely no wobble! It is somewhat tedious to assemble because the bottom piece has to go on at the same time as the hot end but it was worth the hassle. It will probably not last for many insertions and removals due to the screw threaded into plastic on the left, so I am going to print some spares.

If someone wants to try and make an extended bracket that will go all the way thru to the left screw on the extruder body, that would be great. I will attempt that and also try to make the slight mod to ward's mount and get a seperate .stl of the bracket over the next few days, but I'm not in too much of a hurry for now since it does work as is.

I've got the 5 mm test steps printing now and I will post before and after pics. Enjoy, and let me know if anyone else has other ideas for how to mount the E3D V6!

EDIT: attached a .stl for the bracket I am using, in case anyone wants it.

Edit 2: tinkercad link in case anyone wants to try and extend the bracket to reach the left extruder body screw. I can't figure it out.
https://www.tinkercad.com/things/lRQMLH … -base/edit
