Aloha everyone!

I'm a new member to the Solidoodle community in Honolulu, Hawaii. I'm a IT specialist by day, and now a 3D printer 'hobbyist' by night. lol. I've always enjoyed tinkering around now have an ultimate 'toy', my Solidoodle 2, that i can use to make anything; limited only by my imagination and CAD modeling ability. Note that I don't really have much CAD experience though I'm sure that will be now changing as I learn to make what I need.

I've had my printer for about a week now and loving what it can do. After reading about 3D printers for sometime in all the various techy blogs I read, I realized that I didn't actually know anyone that had one. I'm a certified nerd (have a MSIS degree and IT certs) with lots of intelligent smart nerdy friends. I would have thought that I would have had at least one person in one of my circles, well I am now that one person for everyone I know. After taking a look at what a 3D actually can do I was blown away and started looking into all of the models and price tags. Thinking I was going to have to save a few paychecks to afford to get into this hobby, I then discovered the SD2. For about the cost of DIY, I could finally break into this with an actually built machine. It was a no brainer at that point. After months of waiting... I'm now an official Solidoodler.

So aloha and mahalo everyone for all the help you provide on this forum.

-Chris 'aka' DigitalWhitewater

Hey, I'm also interested in meeting others in Hawaii or the Pacific that are into 3D printing....
