I had issues with sketchups stl export files when trying to import them into a different program. I think it's prob in the plug-in and not so much sketchup itself. So, I started using 123dDesign. I most recently started learning to use Blender a little bit.

Thanks @wardjr, I think it's time to upgrade and expand my toolset.

I blame SketchUp btw-- I ran "Orient Faces" which seemed to unify the faces, but they drew blue, indicating reversed. That sliced fine, but it seems like it shouldn't have. Hmmm.

Thanks again for the help, now to print without curling or moiré patterns, whee!

Hey folks, long time lurker, machine's running great with Lawsy upgrades (thank you!) and an E3D hot end.

But with the hardware working, I have a software problem I can't get past:

I can't get a decent slice of a lot of SketchUp models!

I check that they're solid in SketchUp (using SolidInspector), and I've try exporting with both the "Export to DXF or STL" plugin and DAE to Meshworks, then check in AccuTrans-- all A-ok.

The STL looks good in Repetier Host (0.85b), but it slices too fast (with slic3r 0.9.9) and the result is garbage: like it can only see a few edges, and it makes a wispy spiral up with no real extrusion.

It's not an SD issue per se, but my setup is pretty plain as far as the SD3 setups go.

I'm attach the latest stl that's tripping it up-- so simple, hmmm...

Any clues would be most appreciated!
