I know that flashing the firmware on the PrinterBoard Rev-E can be intimidating. I have successfully done it on three separate occasions. Follow the instructions in this link the 11th post down from en-rage. http://www.soliforum.com/topic/4520/e3d … lp/page/2/
It look like a lot but it goes fast. The hardest part is finding the hidden file created when you verify and shift key in arduino.
Work your way through it and ask questions when you get stuck. Instead of using the Upload button in arduino you'll use the command screen instead.

If you are running PLA on an E3D, set the temp to 200-210. I have the best PLA results in that area. About 175 on stock hotend works well.
You will need to update the firmware for the E3D for sure. But as far as RH settings for higher temps, it would be in your Slic3r profiles under the filament tab. Then set the same temps under the Printer Settings in RH in the upper right hand corner. I believe it will say "defualt extruder/bed temp" or something to that nature.
Extrusion width and filament diameter hinder results as well, so checking in Slic3r for proper settings will help.

Yes...I probably could have heated it up enough to run PLA, but I had intended to run ABS with the E3D and PLA with the old hot end. I really am not sure where we ran into problems on changing the Firmware, as computers are not really my forte'. I can get by on what I know, but am not a programmer. My friend is highly skilled in computer programming and engineering and he could not figure it out. I think it had something to do with having the new SD 2 board, and we could not find the right info for that board.

So with that, I switched back to the old hot end. The old hot end is where I am having the problems now...free flowing filament and skipping...I do not know what other info you would need for that problem, but I will give you all that I can.

I have spent nearly enough money on spare parts to buy another machine. I would like something more consistant and thought the E3D would be the solution.

You should be able to turn the heat up enough for PLA. Try upping your temp by 20 or 30 degrees. As far as the firmware change goes... Give us an idea of what step is hanging you up. Happy to help but need more details.

I am at my wits end with my solidoodle 2.

Here is what I am dealing with, and have no clue how to correct it.

Hot end seems like it is free flowing filament. Don't know why...Thought problem was the peek. Bought new peek for 30 bucks...installed...filament is still free flowing. Running PLA at 165

Extruder is skipping like crazy. If I clean out the hot end, it might run 2 0r 3 parts, but then starts skipping. Yet again, thought it was the peek...In the old peek, the hole seemed to be deformed, so I thought it was the root of all my problems...but new peek equals skipping, worse than it was before.

I really thought I was getting somewhere when I ordered a E3D hot end. Got it all installed, but cannot find clear instructions on how to update the firmware to allow repetier to heat to a higher temp. I even had a computer engineer trying to help me and he couldn't follow the instructions that are out there to do this.

So its back to skippy flowy for me. Could this be a nozzle problem? Gould the i.d. be too large? This is concerning because I am on my third nozzle.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
