It was actually one of the simpler mods to do even if it does look radical, and had far more benefit for things like accurate circles than pretty much any other mod I've done.

Yea, when I open it in meshlab now that I'm at home I can see it, but the STL viewer on my android tablet didn't like it.

I've updated a couple files to be more aesthetic.

Something seems to be wrong with the .stl for the motor bracket. Thingiverse can't seem to preview it and if I download it I can't seem to look at it locally either.

as for metal flex with bearings have you guys thought of using a corner bearing holder that mounts to both flat sides of frame for added stability? seems the 16 gauge metal SD used on these is a tad too thin for all the hardware to remain firm under stress of operation with all the tension in all directions

Also, got impatient and the lathe is closer than HK. tongue
Took a while to get the alignment right, but it's now pretty close, and the residual forces will easily be taken up in the flexibility of the frame without doing much to the motor bearings, at least for the meantime.

Now the concept seems to work, I'll be reworking the design to use a coupler as it will make assembly much easier, and I can then share the design on the net (there's a reason it's not up yet!).

Also you can look up "lovejoy" if you're going through used stock in the u.s
Also, there is a spider coupler on thingiverse that uses sugru as the rubber smile.
