I've been using a 4mm slab of glass with my build tak for months now. Safe to say the stuff I've been printing on it has been kinda huge. No problems so far in terms of breaking the glass, but defs have the occasional stick problem in which a part is almost impossible to remove.

Pallet Knives, they're called around here. If you're buying some for this purpose, don't buy used. Using the knife on canvas during painting can sharpen the knives to a razor edge, depending on your painting style. I hadn't thought about using them before, but that's a brilliant replacement for my current wood chisel.

If you heat the bed to about 60C, it seems to help with the warping a lot. I am using it on my delta build. I decided to use the buildtak because making an enclosure for a 3 foot tall delta seemed like a pain.
You can also use a flat carving tool to remove the printed piece. I got mine at Michaels.
