Safe to say the stuff I've been printing on it has been kinda huge. No problems so far in terms of breaking the glass, but defs have the occasional stick problem in which a part is almost impossible to remove.

The correct answer would be 8 x 8 x 1/4 Borosilicate glass  aka pyrex  McMaster carr part #847K18 . $ 24.62

that said I am still using a piece of glass from the hardware store.
or  you can  get a piece of 1/4 aluminum plate  for about $ 30 from on line sources. jig plate is pretty flat.

The circle is what I was printing ( pla 19mm x-men logo) and tried to get off when I heard the crack.  Anyone have any home depot or lowes printing bed alternatives?  Steel plate?  twice as thick glass (doubt it wont crack again).

If you're buying some for this purpose, don't buy used. Using the knife on canvas during painting can sharpen the knives to a razor edge, depending on your painting style. I hadn't thought about using them before, but that's a brilliant replacement for my current wood chisel.

You can also use a flat carving tool to remove the printed piece.  I got mine at Michaels.

....... uhhhh ........    lol, it warped a bit.   but to its defense when i first got it i cleaned it with acetone and you ARE NOT supposed to do that.    i think its time to put a new piece on anyway.   ill update again when i make another print that size.  but for the most part it does work a lot better than glass alone or (in my experience) hairspray.   i have had trouble getting some prints off of it in the past.
