We are. The Buddha featured on our site was the product of this. I'm not sure if we were super clear about this, but this has always been on the plate, just not top priority.

The hold up is creating a profile that is up to our standards, getting an official installer for all operating systems (the developer has been a great help with this), and writing support documentation.

We are about 60% through the process.

I'm sure you can understand how this is complicated by Solidoodle 3 development.

]]> Sun, 18 Nov 2012 20:07:27 +0000 https://www.soliforum.com/post/5096/#p5096 <![CDATA[Re: Make's Ultimate Guide to 3D printing]]> https://www.soliforum.com/post/5091/#p5091 The tough thing about a review like that, is that much of it depends on the software and provided profile.  That's valid for the "Christmas morning" experience that they used as their standard.  Fortunately most of the lower marks are things that can be easily improved by the user by switching to Repetier, Slic3r, and adjusting the settings.   The low marks for accuracy and print quality may be related to the Y and Z backlash problems that are so common.

The issue is well worth getting, it's very comprehensive and a great introduction to 3D printing.  General principles, workflow, getting started in modeling, even how to make scans with Catch and Reconstruct Me, and clean them up for printing.

If Solidoodle could list it as an option, or work out a deal with Make to include the PDF free with purchase, it would help a lot of customers who are new to 3D printing

Each of the 15 printers has a 2 page spread and then a comparison chart.  They used the Torture Test print for their testing of the various machines (forum software isn't letting me post link) - Thingiverse #33902.

Make listed the following stats for the Solidoodle 2:

Resolution (z-axis): .1mm - .3mm

Seems weird that they didnt run the machine with the default Skeinforge slicer.
