I'd be glad to be a guinea pig. I have just installed the V6 on my SD2 and really haven't finished wiring it up. So, I don't even know if it works yet - hope so, my factory hot end had it's third new nozzle & tube since Christmas, and it plugged in about 20 minutes. I've got a bit of work to do with calibration and all that goes with that. If push comes to shove, I guess I can try blasting the old nozzle with hellfire and maybe get it unclogged.

Food for thought, as I said, I don't know if the printer will even work yet. Elmoret has engineering drawings on his Filastruder/E3d site - would help with measurements.

Ski

now the big question. can this be used on a duel extruder setup for at least one of the extruders and use other for support material as it dont need bridge cooling? if so then all I need is glass plate and board with connector pins for the cooling fan and duel extruders for my SD2 instead of an SD apprentice

Just a small update. I've been experimenting with flexible filament, and I wanted my extruder to work with it without issues. I had to print several iterations of this before I got it right, but I think that it works well now. I'm still having issues where the idler bearing is as tight as possible, but it is squishing the filament against the drive gear and ultimately slipping on the idler bearing. This causes it to then slip on the drive gear and not extrude. I'm not sure if it is a design flaw on my part, or that I have improper settings for temperatures and extrusion speed.

Anyway, here is a preview of the files. I will upload it to thingiverse in the next day or so. Thanks.

P.S. I just added some extra clearance on the idler bearing. I might have gone a bit overboard. I will print a copy of this soon, but for now my print with less clearance with xacto knife clearance added will work for now.

I added a fit for a brass threaded insert on one part of it. I will remove that feature in the published version, because it is not necessary for this to work. I will include that version if anyone has inserts from Mcmaster (which I recommend).

Oh well. At least I like printing, so I will just make another. Also, was it any problem tossing the E3D into the bottom? I had to shave down with a razor pen...still tight.

I forgot to mention that in the instructions, but due to the fact that the clearances are pretty tight (in terms of where the through holes can be and not interfere with each other), you will need to shorten the very long bolts that connect the parts to the carriages by using two nuts on each bolt. I know that this is not optimal, but it was the best way to keep these screw heads from interfering with the installation of the hotend.

On the subject of fit: I had to go through several iterations of printing to get the fit just right, and I made it such that there are tolerances that allow for slight variations in printing calibrations (by making the holes slightly larger than they need to be). Because of this, your printer needs to be calibrated for accurate parts in order to make sure that it fits correctly. Also, no finishing techniques can be done (like acetone treatment), as they will affect the overall size of the fits. I think that you acetone finished your print, which in my experience will make it lose features and changes the overall size a bit. It's almost an exact fit, so any changes will make it not work unfortunately.
