Windows will generally shut down the port if there is too much power drain... so you might have a short either in the cable, plug, or mainboard. Because of how the m/b is mounted to the case there is a possibility of conductive things falling between it and causing problems also check the end of the usb cables and jack on the m/b make sure nothing has gotten there, when did this issue appear? was it working then all of the sudden it quit or had things been moved around, unplugged or basically what changed if anything?

Hi,

I have an SD3 and I'm having some difficulties with the motherboard. Everything was just working fine and now I cannot connect to the SD3 at all. No green light on the board when it's plugged in. Actually, plugging it in causes windows 8 to detect a problem with the device and it shuts down the USB controller for that port. I think there may be a hardware issue with the board.

Has anyone else had this problem? I just sent in an email to support.
