To save costs they use the sanguinololu and printrboards that do not have enough inputs for limits on each end of travel so they rely on software to provide the limits... most people do not have their software setup properly for their individual machine as z height can vary dependent on where z tab is set.

the threads just get stuck, you should be able to turn by hand(with the power off) the threaded z rod(in the back center of the machine) clockwise (looking down) and that will bring the bed up just a turn or two should free it up, then you need to go into the software and shrink the z size down a mm or two to prevent this from happening again.

Hey everyone,
My SD3's printbed lowered past the point of responding after a successful print last night. I send the command to raise or lower, I hear the motor whine like it is trying to do something, but the z-axis rod never turns.

Thoughts on where to start? Is this something that can fall "off-track"?

Thanks!
