I was wondering if there would be a way to create a printed plug, maybe something you could stick jumpers into and have their leads pushed down onto the pads. It would be nice if you could work something out with headers, but the pads are too close together.

I saw the Filawinder kit for sale. Nice work.

If you like, I could do a little more work on the Filament measurement device. It could be upgraded to measure the filament from two directions using two digital thickness gauges. Someone emailed me a while back and said that the caliper/thickness gauge has a quick read mode which could provide many times more readings per second.

Jesse

Now that the kit is launched, I finally have some time to work on this. The guide is based on Jesse's, modified to fit a 4mm PTFE tube. I have a couple of tweaks to make before I post the STLs.

Eventually I would like to interface this with the Arduino and include a rotary encoder somewhere. The combination should be able to track both the length of filament spooled and the weight, based on the thickness measured.
