Don't know about the ABS-H but the oval problem is a common one, it happened to me also. First make sure the SD2 is off. The stepper that drives the Y axis is at the back of the case screwed to the side. You'll see a short belt going from the stepper to a rod running the width of the machine at the back. Loosen the screws on the stepper so that you can move it up and slide that belt off the pulley that it drives. Leave the long belts that move the Y axis back and forth on their pulleys but loosen the set screws that keep them in place on the rod. Then manually move the Y carriages back and forth until those pulleys you loosened don't move left to right anymore. You should get circles after that.

We're having all kinds of fun trying to get a good print from our sd2. One of our members suggested that the filament we're using being ABS-H may be problematic. Apparently, the -H is from adding high impact polystyrene to the mix. The filament doesn't dissolve in acetone.

We've measured the head travel on the plate with a caliper and 100mm in the x or y is very accurate yet printing circular parts results in ovals. It's very noticeable at the 1 cm scale where the circle could be warped as much as 20%.

We've checked the plate to confirm it's level. We've tried multiple STLs but the results are consistantly skewed. We aren't scaling the print in the slicer or any other settings we could detect using Repettier.

My first question is about the material. Are there different types of ABS on the market and, if so, which should be avoided or preferred?

Secondly, what else could we do to troubleshoot the problem?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Bill
