Main thing to watch out for is your X-axis stepper motor. Mine got hot enough to warp its mounting carriage as seen in this thread:

http://www.soliforum.com/topic/3798/hot-stepper-motors/

Thank you. Good to know. I already have a glass bed and use hairspray so hopefully no more warping!

It most certainly did for me! Combined with a glass bed and the occasional bit of hairspray (on the glass), warping prints are no longer a problem.

Thank you! Yes, the heat is coming from the printer only (no external sources of heat) so it should be fine!

Do you know if enclosing the printer sides helps reducing the warping probem?

No, I wouldn't worry about overheating assuming the bed and extruder are the only source of heat. The closest I've gotten to overheating is when I put one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-100-MyHeat- … B003XDTWN2 in with my printer, and even then the stepper motors were fine, the filament just began to be ground by the extruder gear.

I recently completely closed off all sides of the printer (see image). I did it to keep dust out when it is idle and heat in when it is printing! However, I am concerned about too much heat when it is printing. Does anyone know if enclosing the cage will result in too much heat that will damage the printer (melts parts, etc)?

There is a 0.5"x2" horizontal slot in the back of the top cover where the filament comes in but I am not sure that is enough ventilation.

Feedback is much needed and appreciated.
