This one has the advantage of not needing to take apart the axis and possibly destroy the original in the attempt to get the rods out. Some of the wiggle in the extruder comes from the right carriage's ability to pivot on the white teflon blocks. Tightening the belts stabilizes it, but you will start getting skipped steps by the time your really get it tight enough. This mod only seeks to hold that carriage straight.

LOL...all of this to avoid printing something that already works and doesnt need extra stuff. Just print the ones with the linear bearings! its like to avoid using that one you will do 3 times the work and risk just because.

compression strength of hair (or anything for that matter) is much stronger than most people give it credit for. think about it this way. a piece of hair under one bearing lifts it...but it magnifies it at the print head. Its just not a good idea to have exposed mating surfaces on precision parts. Its just asking for trouble.

Just ran across this on Thingiverse- http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:171252

It replaces the teflon blocks on the right side Y carriage with grooved roller bearings. If it works well, it would be a lot easier than printing a whole new carriage and trying to get the rods out of the old one.
