What I meant is just that (for example) I use an old Compaq for my S2 and as a media server for home- that my work was going to scrap because it was a Pentium III. However it still runs repetierhost just fine, and talks perfectly well with the computer.

However- my main gaming / rendering rig has faulty front panel USB ports, and if I try to either program/communicate with my arduino projects, or the S2, I get similar issues.

If your friend is plugged into his front panel (if applicable) USB ports- try the dedicated 'back of the computer' ports. Or, try to switch which port(s).

It could honestly be as simple as either a bad cable- or USB port.

I am running one of my SD's on a 2005 dell laptop and have no symptoms like that??? I have the original windows on it too... was reinstalled in jan 2013 but I do keep my systems fairly clean of unneeded winware. RH really doesn't take much horsepower to run especially when printing all it has to do is move data to the comm port and update the screen(this actually takes most of the cycles RH uses)

I guess as long as it makes the printer print that's what matters maybe someone else will chime in here as to delays in the temps reporting...

Since the head is heating then there is a good connection from PC to printer. Sounds like the sensor is faulty.

hello, my brother back home (im currently at the university of minnesota -twin cities) with the printer told me that repetier is not displaying the print temp? i'll have him elaborate on this later tonight, but he says he just waits for the plastic to start "drooling" as we call it to know that the head is hot enough. is there a setting he hit? or is this characteristic of like a sensor going out?
