Interesting, I wonder why it's setup to overwrite that. Adds a little more time to the print filling every layer but I will keep experimenting with it. At least I see who the culprit is, thanks again.

edit: I just went and tried the 8.4 version of slic3r and it does what I would expect where the N fill setting is applied after the number of bottom layers is applied. So I'm thinking they made a change and did not catch this big.

You have infill every 3 layers selected. Slicer assumes you mean the bottom layers also. If you change that to infill every 1 layer it will work fine. I am a little confused about its math though. I noticed the same thing when running the file using your settings.

I see what you mean. Try infill every 1 layer and change infill every solid layer to 0. That's what I've always done. I never understood why anyone wouldn't want infill on every layer.

No that setting only applies after the initial specified horizontal shells for top and bottom have been specified. In my case, that's 5 solid layers before infilling every n layers. Also, even if I set that setting to 1 then it would still only do one solid bottom layer and then filling each additional layer with the %density specified. If you use slic3r older version, it does not have this problem.

here it is. I also ran a stl repair using netfabb but still no luck after slicing. I have tried several other stl files and same result. Basic stuff like a cube has the exact same problem.

can you post the stl also? I see that layers 2&3 are not solid. I am curious if there is something that is making slic3r unhappy. can you screen shot the infill settings?

Here's one of the prints I made this week and if you check the first 5 layers you can see that it does one solid layer and then does 25% fill every 3 layers even though I have the 5 bottom and top layers specified in the slic3r options. I noticed this because the bottom was so thin it began peeling and sticking to the print bed ruining the bottom of the print. I also provided a screen shot of the settings specifying the bottom layers to printed with solid fill. This was not the case on previous version of slic3r. If it's something simple that I am doing wrong, please let me know.

post your gcode and the stl so we can see what you are talking about. Make sure that slic3r isn't trying to use raft layers under the model.

I wanted to know if anyone is having the same issue I am. Recently I have discovered since my update to slic3r 9.10b, that it no longer produces solid bottom layers up to the N number I specify. It prints one solid bottom layer and then proceeds filling with %density until the next specified solid layer. I have gone back and tried slicing with older versions of slic3r and they do not have this issue. Any ideas if this is a bug in the new version? Hope I made my issue clear. Thanks in advance
