Well, I have been chatting with the folks over at PTC, they make the Creo CAD packages, including free stuff like Sketch (2D) and Design Elements Express (3D). I was unable to get Design Express to install on my Windows 8 machine and razzed them a bit. Long story short: they have agreed to work with me to resolve the Windows 8 issue (and I hope certify it as Supported on Win 8).

Also, they have asked if I would agree to be a beta tester for their new Creo Elements/Direct Modeling 19.0 beta test which is just kicking off. I believe that is their Pro version. I guess they figure if I can make it go, anyone can.

So, who knows, maybe this will turn out to be another viable alternative for blind pigs such as myself.
