Thanks for the input. I'll be downloading the new version of RH. I've been playing with Blender, but haven't got very far yet. I'll give your version of the stl a shot when I get my latest clog cleared... The first time I printed one half of this it did lift quite back, the second go round I turned off my extruder fan and it printed out fine.

Once again, thanks for your time.

TiM

My apologies, tim. I saw the timecode and not the date...

The model is not flat on the build surface. This is an issue with the model, not with the software. Since the 2 pieces are not level, the slicer sets it up as best as it can.

if you have access to blender (it's free, so it shouldn't be any problem to download it), you may be able to fix the issue, but blender has a steep learning curve. You'd have to select each individual mesh and make sure that they're both even on the bottom of the plate. OR you could save each mesh separately that way you'd be able to print one piece at a time. You may want a Brim as the long legs could cause some lift off from the build plate when you print it.

@cckens: I thought I was posting a gentle reminder, if you check the date stamp on my original post you'll see it's been 3 days and 30 minutes.

@ronsill: I thought the link to Thingiverse would suffice. I've downloaded the stl after customizing and I've downloaded the part that someone else customized with the same results. Both halves are 21 layers tall. (note the correction, my original post stated it was 33 layers tall, my mistake) The problem is one half starts at layer 1 and ends on layer 21, the second half starts on layer 4 and ends on layer 25. The links to the .stl file and the gcode generated by Kisslicer are below. I got the same results with Slice3r as well leading me to believe the problem is with the .stl file.

Gcode: https://app.box.com/s/hbteq3zeucnpnttv35bj

STL: https://app.box.com/s/7etm6tijqfeajensu4jb

Hopefully those links will work.

What software can I use to break up multi part .stl files? If I could split the two parts up I can drop the part that's 4 layers high onto the build platform and print the two parts separately. Another example where this would come in handy is the snap together robo hand. It comes with many parts on individual plates, which is great, but when I was printing the plate of pins, 20 plus parts, one of the pins popped loose. I'd like to be able to cut out that single part that popped loose instead of printing the entire plate of parts...

Thanks for your time...

TiM

I've been trying to print one of these http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:52757 The split version. The problem I run into is that the two halves don't start on the same layer for some reason. The first half is 33 layers tall, the second half is also 33 layers tall, but doesn't start trying to print until the 5th layer. I've customized my own, and I've downloaded somebody else's and both a have the same issue. I finally found a version where the two halves are split into separate files and that's working for me. I was wondering what would cause this and what software I could use to split the two parts myself...

Thanks,

TiM
