I delt with a similar problem i was using .013 wire to clean my tip but it kept making that click clicking every so often so I bumpted up to a .020 in wire. (think I got the wire sizes right I'm not at my printer.) I have not had that problem since.

My method of cleaning involves a no tearing apart the printer.

it's not that the temps are dropping. It like taking your hand and passing it through fire. If you go fast it won't even get warm. If you go slow, you will get burnt. I am sure you can do the maths if you know the MFI? and extrusion speeds. I would rather extrude 100-200mm of filament and turn up the heat slowly until I have a smooth flowing filament and you don't see any teeth marks in the extruded stuff. Other than that, it's trial and error. I think sanjay from E3D reported using up to ~265 - 285 for ABS because he was printing so fast. Tim Elmore would know 10000x better than I would about this.

Didn't it have a build in temperature that prevents extrusion if hotend temp is too low?
and how fast is " too fast" is there a number for reference?

I sure hope this isn't your issue. I have only printed 2 things with my new hot-end, and on the 3rd thing it is having the same issue. I've already destroyed a hot-end trying to unclog it so I am hoping that isn't the case. Particularly within 2 days of installing the hot-end.

High speeds need a higher temperature since the filament has less time to melt. This will absolutely cause your filament to skip.

I hope it's not a partially clogged nozzle.... Ug. But it is what it is. I am suspicious of not hot enough extruder temp. I run at 195C by default. But perhaps I should try a little hotter. That would make sense, and explain the sporadic seeming nature. Also seems to occur more often when I run my machine at higher speeds. I have a Panelolu 2 and adjust my speed on the fly when my print quality isn't important. Anyhow I will give that a try.

I'll also check my extruder fan. I think it is running, but I'll check to be safe. And then if that all fails... I wouldn't hate upgrading parts. Not the end of the world;)

Wardjr could be right about the partially clogged nozzle. I have had that experience also. Another thing to try is bumping your temp up a couple degrees. Some filament needs to be a little hotter to flow nicely. Darker colors are particularly bad about that. This will show up on long infill sections.

Is your extruder fan running? My extruder fan sometimes needs a nudge to get started. If I don't do this it heats up and on longer prints this will cause the filament to start slipping.

You are showing the early signs of a clogged nozzle or possibly your barrel is not completely tight in the peek.
Clean your nozzle and see if that helps and then order and E3D hot end and you'll never deal with that problem again.

Every now and again on a longer print my extruder will strip the filament, thus causing a failed print because it can't grip anymore filament to push it down into the hot end. Anyone else have this problem? I have a SD3 in an enclosure, solidoodle brand red filament. Print speed doesn't seem to make a difference, and the problem is intermittent. Sometimes it does it, other times it won't. I am wondering if it's a a filament feeding issue.

Also after each time my filament is not tangled in the slightest. Just randomly strips it, and I am not sure why. I have cleaned the extruder teeth, adjusted tension on the tension arm in both ways...

What am I missing?
