that was my favorite part too. I like how the only quantified measurement of tightness is "not too tight".

experiment with it a little. you are basically trading off between two things: binding and accuracy. If your belts are too loose they will be inaccurate, but too tight and they will bind or skip. it's more important that the belts are of equal tension than anything else. I use this thing now: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:38952 but obviously you'll have to improvise until you can get everything to stop binding. the back belt just needs to be tight enough to have 0 slop, just push down on it a little when you tighten the screws. Careful about bending the y rod though

Looks just like what I was seeing. Unfortunately I couldnt carry the printer home on the train, so it's sitting at work waiting for me to play tomorrow.

I wish in these instructions they would say a bit more. For example, they say adjust the belt, but not whether it should be tighter or looser. The how to video has a lot of vague instructions, surely it would be better to say the belt should have 5mm of slack at the center, or a similar guide so those of us unfamiliar with the machines get an idea of what is loose and what is tight.

Anyway, I have a starting point in my quest, and that's good. I guess I'll be driving in tomorrow so I can take filament and coem home with the printer.

Wow, I got my SD3 to print after a bit of messing with the software and drivers.

I had a nice little test model all ready to go, and I watched happily as it laid down the first layer.

Then it started to make yucky noises, what I am sure is some binding on one of the Axis. So I took some video, a few photos and let it build for a while to get a good idea of what it's actually doing.

It's the end of the day, so tonight I will go home and read up, then tomorrow experiment with what I find out.

If anyone wants to chime in.. here's the print... and I'll post a YouTube to show the noise etc when I get home.

This is basically a cubic shape BTW .. the STL is here too.

and here is the link to YouTube: http://youtu.be/9tRJ_YFByiU
