I'm having some trouble with this fan mount, maybe I'm doing something wrong. I printed the two pieces bolted them together and snapped them on with a fan and all was good for about 8 to 10 hors of printing, then then fan fell off mid print. The clip piece had warped, probably from the heat. I printed a second one and about 8 hours later I had the same problem. I'm trying to remember what infill I used, 20% probably. I'll try and print a solid one this time around and see if that does the trick. The difference is amazing on prints that need a fan. The trick is to figure out when to turn it on and when to leave it off.

TiM

Hi all,

I've finally gotten this so I'm happy with it. If you have printed 2n2r5's fan for the mk5, then there may not be much point in printing this.

2n2r5's fan:

http://www.soliforum.com/topic/3045/mk5 … -consumer/

This design is quite compact but the airflow from the fan is compromised as a result. It does do the job, however, and print quality is greatly improved when used at an appropriate time.

Instructions

Print parts at high infill for strength. No support needed. The fan shroud (ironically) prints a lot better with a fan. Therefore, you may like to print one, fit it and use it to print another, better quality shroud.

M3 x 10mm bolts to attach the accessory mount to the shroud.

Use a few layers of Kapton tape to protect the inside of the shroud from the heat of the extruder.

40mm fan should slip straight in.

Dimensions in mm.

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:115659
