We are looking for physical real 3D printed objects, not digital files (as we have no budget to get things printed).
As far as possible we hope people can deliver these of their own accord, but if someone has something really quite special and literally cannot deliver it by their own means, I'd do my best to cover the cost of shipping.

Hope that's useful.

Best

Rohan

Hi, thanks for your questions.

That's a good point about age-appropriateness, I hadn't been asked that yet.
Let's try and keep it family safe. To be honest that particular object would probably be okay as it just looks like an art sculpture, and we have other 3d prints of scanned nude sculptures/statues. Funny how art can deem something appropriate and something inappropriate just because it's from antiquity? Anyway, off topic.
There are no real guidelines other than keep it family safe, we're after any thing of any size, we are on the look out for larger pieces especially, as they are harder to get.

Display-wise, these items will not be behind glass, they will be on a large wall spanning the length of the exhibition. The lowest (likely smallest) objects will be around adult head-height, and larger objects will be a bit higher up. The main exhibits, displays, interactive stations etc... will be below this wall.

It's really great the maker community in general has been so keen to help me out. My background is in hacking/tinkering with robots and AI, and as soon as I heard about this exhibition I made sure I was on board and that I could involve independent creative groups.

Regards

Rohan

Are there any guidelines for your exhibit? I'm guessing that the content must be all-ages appropriate, since it is a public display (i.e. no Pink Panther Woman). Any idea on sizes for prints? Will these be in a display case that can be approached or on a distant shelf?

Thanks for reaching out to the community like this!

Hi

Thanks for the Thingiverse advice. I have expired the small budget I have for printing objects, and have indeed used Thingiverse extensively for this.
But I would like to really show off what 3D printing is about, which in my mind is the creativity of individuals.
I'm trying to give independent makers/designers/hackers/artists an opportunity to have something they've created on display in a museum that gets over 3 million visitors a year
I don't have to do this, I want to!

I'm not too au fait with terminology, but I thought spam was adverts for trying to sell things? I'm trying to do almost-the opposite, and would like people to send me things they've created and would like to share with the public.

To reiterate, it's not designs I'm after but real physical 3D printed objects. Credit will be given.

Many thanks

Rohan
