I personally have a webcam positioned at my printer and run Open Broadcasting Software on a justin.tv account, and then have VNC Server hooked up so I can remotely stop a print if something bad happens.

I still check my phone like I'm a 14 year old high school girl though, so I'm not sure if it's the best solution.

The board length doesn't matter so much as the position of what's mounted on it. Right now I'm have 8cm from board edge to nozzle face, that will reduce the chance of ramen, relative to 10cm. It will also reduce the filament diameter by 50-100 microns.

Thats nothing like Real Ramen though...

The strange thing is, you really want your filament to come out like Ramen really.
Ramen (the real thing) is smooth as you like.

Whoever coined this phrase hasnt eaten much Ramen

Bingo! If the guide is not positioned properly, you get something like ramen. It's like trying to push a rope - hot filament has nearly no stiffness.

And what exactly is "ramen" I have seen the term used but never have seen a definition. I Googled ramen and see that it originates with a Japanese noodle.

So I assume ramen in the extruder context is some sort of blobbing.

I keep my Filastruder (#15) on the back porch however my PC is about a 100 foot walk away.

This app comes in handy for remote viewing using Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … ViY2FtIl0.

It runs as a web server on the Android to stream video and Chrome can natively handle the streaming video.

My Galaxy S2, streams video at 640x480x30fps and it's possible to take photos at a much higher resolution (3264x2448) for close ups.

It's helped to reduce my "ramen" anxiety now that I can see whether the extruder needs help.
