Thanks for the suggestions. We did end up feeding it through manually- only to discover there's a clog further down towards the nozzle as well, but that's an adventure for another time. We'll probably end up adjusting the filament drive gear once we've got to machine printing at least some calibration tests.

Again, thanks for the help. My 6 year old daughter is super excited to start making stuff too!

You may have to adjust your filament drive gear in the future. There is a small Allen screw that holds it on the shaft. Loosen the screw and slide the drive gear in and out until the teeth line up with the bearing then tighten. If you open the side with the bearing, you can see the alignment by feeding the filament by hand.

Loosen the thumbscrew enough so you can manually thread the filament all the way down the bore of the extruder (or remove the thumbscrew/washer/spring entirely and swing out the tension arm), then tighten it back up after you've loaded it.

Hey, everyone. I just got my new Solidoodle 2 Pro today (so sorry if I use the wrong words for things), and while I was able to get the pre-loaded filament out, whenever I try and load the starter filament, it wraps around the toothed gear on the left side that helps pull it into the extruder instead of heading down the shaft to the nozzle.

I've tried adjusting the thumb screw to no avail, and have ensured that there is no leftover bits of filament blocking it. Any ideas?
