Oh, you mention that the print comes off about midway through... one of the main reasons for this would be over extrusion which causes unnecessary forces on the print from the printhead pushing too much filament onto it.. so if you haven't done this already you probably need to adjust the filament flow rate. ---> http://solidoodletips.wordpress.com/201 … libration/

Can you post a screenshot of your slicer configs to do with the 'printer settings' and repetier 'printer shape' as for the print not sticking have you cleaned the bed with anything? it sound like you probably have the z set right by what you describe, also what temp is your extruder running at?

Hey all! Just got my Solidoodle2 the other day, and I've been trying to get it running properly. It's been a pretty big headache, so any help is truly appreciated.

The first problem is that the printer doesn't seem to be responding to model placement. I have a relatively small part (about an inch square) that I centered using the Repetier-Host software. Problem is that no matter what I do, it always prints in the same spot, in one of the corners, as can be seen in the following picture

i.imgur.com/RHZuuuu.jpeg

So I figure the printer must be out of alignment, so I try moving the piece in the XY plane in RH, but no matter where I put it it prints in the exact same spot. So I tried playing around with the "bed center" parameter in the Slic3r configuration, but it still prints in the same spot. So I tried switching to Skeinforge as my slicer, and it prints in the same spot again. So I tried changing computers, and same thing! Is there something wrong with my unit? This is amazingly frustrating, so please if you could help that would be awesome!

The second main problem is the parts sticking to the bed. I have the factory layer of kapton tape on there, and the bed is heated to between 80-95 degrees. It will usually print the first layer just fine, but later on in the print the bottom will start to peel up around the corners, and eventually will just get pushed away somewhere in the middle of the print. I have leveled and set the Z offset multiple times, and I'm almost positive I have both of those right. If i shift the Z axis up any, then the first layer doesn't stick to the bed, any lower and the extruder head digs into the plastic and pushes the first layer off when going around. I tried to counteract this by giving it a brim, which seems to have helped a little bit, but the print still goes flying somewhere in the middle. What can I do to help this? I also tried to fix this by going to Skeinforge and using a raft and while that actually did solve the sticking problem, it led to another problem in itself...

When using Skeinforge to print, I get absolutely god-awful quality. It takes the number of layers from 166 with Slic3r down to 56 for the same part. On top of that when I printed, it wouldn't produce a smooth steady flow, but instead would spit out rapid bursts of filament, exacerbating the bad print quality. Now that spitting problem I have been able to determine is the fault of the software, as when I tried it on my other computer, it came out nice and smooth, but still with the same low-res 56 layers. Which setting should I look to to solve this?

Thank you guys for taking the time to help, I really like this and I just want to get it working so I can start making some cool stuff
