ok.. i just tested one of the new functions of slic3r 0.9.9...

open Slic3r, then drag an object on the 'plater' screen. then you can double click on the object name.
a new window will open, where there is a new tab named 'Layers'

in this screen you can set a min Z, max Z and a layer height like this example :

0 2 0.3
2 8 0.2
8 10 0.3

from the base (0) to 2 mm, use a layer height of 0.3 , then from 2mm to 8mm use 0.2 layer then.. etc etc

like on this picture

you can clearly see the layer height change ... it's great !

for example of my huntress bust, you can print the base with a layer of 0.3, then switch to a 0.2mm layer for more details to the end... time gain !!

i love this function... with a clever construction of a model, you can win a lot of time without too much details loss...
you can use it also to make a textured flat surface (you can draw 'line' ....)

the only problem : you need to open slic3r by hand... you can not use this function from within repetier-host
