run the 1st layer stop the machine home it. Remove the 1st layer. if it removes real easy that a problem. Clean the bed with acetone that has a little abs plastic dissolved in it.
Measure the thickness of the layer and adjust the z stop in the back left inside. (each full turn is .5mm or .020 inches)

Got the image attached - I wasn't clicking 'Add File', instead just submitting. Should be viewable now.

Same spool I've always printed with. Bed is heated correctly, in fact I'm heating it higher than before. In terms of first layer thickness, it looks objectively OK to me compared to what was working before and what I've seen people have on here.

Although on that topic, is there an official way to set the z-offset for the first layer? I've only ever read/seen a manual 'yep that looks right' approach which doesn't really help when troubleshooting I'll try and flatten the first layer and see how it goes.

No attachment. If your first layer is extruding too much, your second layer can drag through it and "catch" but it sounds like you've been printing fine from your description. Have you changed spools recently? Are you sure your bed is still heating correctly?

Hi Everyone,

So this problem only started recently - printer was working fine for months. Basically the first layer goes down great, but the second layer 'catches' on the first somehow and rips it up (see attachment). I'm using a glass bed with hairspray and the first layer is sticking really well. Bed is calibrated with digital displacement tool, printing at default .3 thickness.

Any advice as to the cause?
