i currently own three SD4s (out of 5 total) - they are my workhorse, go to printers.
The first one is still my favorite and still going strong after a shade over 5 yrs of ownership (we got it in March 2015). Yes, it has gone thru some major overhauling, but it is a solid platform to work with compared to a lot of the cheap garbage that is out there these days.

I have had a couple of others over the years as well, but passed them on to other people as they really didn't get used much by me... they didn't suit my style, or workflow.
Funny thing is, Kronikabuse has one of them, lol. I traded a kit kossel i built for an SD4 he had that he didn't use anymore - we both got what we wanted out of the deal.

Thanks so much! Just knowing the model is a huge help! I'll plan to get these parts printed in ABS on a high-quality machine. I'm looking forward to the upgrades!

yup, and this is why PLA for printer carriages is a bad idea..
You want ABS or PETg for them to withstand the temps long term.

As Kronikabuse said.. putting a cooling fan on the X motor is a very good idea.. it is undersized and tends to get hot, even when properly tuned. any standard 40mm, 12v fan will work using this bracket: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:128526

He has already given you links for the carriages themselves - both to print your own, or purchase already printed ones. I highly recommend downloading and saving the carriage stls for future use.. things do break sometimes.

You will need to order linear bearings for them.. these are the ones I went with, so far, so good, and going on 5 yrs..
Easy RepRap - 12 LM8UU Linear Bearings

upgrading the smooth rods to hardened steel is highly recommended.. 2 pcs to do both X and Y.. cut with a bandsaw or angle grinder with a cut off wheel.. VXB Brand 8mm Shaft 30"
I have purchased that exact item a couple of times now for multiple printers - very happy with it.

any thing else we can help with, just ask!

Looks like an SD4 since you have the black side panels.
The x axis motors are notorious for getting hot. Once you replace the y axis bracket I suggest you print a fan mount for that stepper.
You are going to have to do a carriage upgrade to fix that. Replaces all the carriages.
I suggest you use lawsy carriages which ride on linear bearing instead of the bushings the old bracket ran on. Since you will have it torn apart anyways. You should replace the rods also with hardened rods.
lawsy carriage link https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:104059
You can buy the printed parts from here if you cant print them yourself https://www.printitindustries.com/colle … nted-parts

Hopefully someone here can help. I bought this printer last year (what I think is the original Solidoodle), and I just now got around to beginning to use it. I noticed some prints shifting on the X axis during printing, so I inspected it to find that the X belt was really loose. I also found that the X motor mount seems to be drooping from getting too hot (see picture above). Does anyone know where I can get part files for this motor mount / Y axis sled? (I don't know what its real name is)

Any help is appreciated!
