FAT32 supports up to 32 GB on Windows (FAT32 can actually support up to 16TB, but you would have to use 3rd party software to format that large a drive. Microsoft set the limit to 32 GB to push people toward NTFS) so a 32 GB USB flash drive should work. I've spoken to another Photon S user on Facebook and he says his 32 GB Kingston USB stick works fine. These suggested limits are based on community guess work, not actual requirements put out by Anycubic. "I did this, it worked, therefore I must always do this." "Oh, it worked for you too, that must be the solution then". There are probably a lot of people that never have issues. It's the people who have issues that find each other and come up with these "requirements". There's clearly a flaw in some of the hardware that Anycubic is putting out so there may be a narrow range of drives that may work with this flaw and the flaw may be so bad that it will never work until you get a good motherboard.

I have a 16 GB Sandisk Cruzer Blade that only works for the Photon S sample cube, and only works some of the time. If I put a smaller file on it, it doesn't work. Weird.

I think it might be connected to voltage the USB port's voltage. I got a tester to look at the voltage and noticed that it doesn't even hit 5 volts. It's within spec, but my PC puts out 5.2 volts and the guy with the 32 GB stick gets 5.15 volts. I'm hoping that people who see this post, looking for help will check their voltages and post them along with a rating of how consistently their USB drive works. That may not be the problem, but I think if we work together we can figure out the actual cause and not keep giving Anycubic a break by just trying to work around it. It will never get fixed.

My problem is that when the printer sees the files and I try to print one, it says "Failed to open file!". When it displays the PWS files that are on the directory, it is supposed to include a thumbnail of the object under the filename. When you select the file to print, it should also show a preview image. If it can do both, it's a good bet that the print will work.l If it doesn't show the preview in the directory, it likely won't work. And, no directory at all is possible. I've encountered all of these conditions with the same USB. I can get it to print all the way down to not being able to display a directory at all.

I know this is an old thread, but I expect that people will find it just like I did.

It only supports FAT32 up to 16GB and you have to use a format utility to format it. It will not work with the system format utility for some reason. This is a constant issue with Anycubic in the Facebook groups. The drive they supply is also very cheap and has a very high failure rate.

Hello

I have a small issue with USB-Sticks for the Photon-S

The Original 4Gb Stick works fine. I suppose the original is an USB2 Stick

I want to have a stick with both 2 Connectors (USB-A & USB-C), because my main Computer has only USB-C Connectors. I got a Sandisk "Ultra Dual Drive Luxe" 32Gb and the USB-A Connector has a blue indication that it is USB3

I reformat the USB-Stick as FAT32

/dev/disk3 (external, physical):
   #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
   0: FDisk_partition_scheme *30.8 GB disk3
   1: DOS_FAT_32 PHOTON-S 30.8 GB disk3s1

When I insert it in a running Photon-S the LCD is blocked! When I switch the Photon-S Off & On, the Printer gives a Beep Tone which doesn't stop?

What is wrong?
- Doesn't the Photon-S doesn't Support 32Gb Size?
- Doesn't the Photon-S doesn't Support USB3 Size?

It is slightly difficult the get old fashioned USB-Stick with USB2 an small sizes (e.g. 4 or 8Gb). I want really an USB Stick with USBA for the 3D Printer and USB-C for my MacBook Pro. I don't want to use extra USB Docks!!!

Further I don't trust to reformat the original Drive. It has a very cryptic "Chinese Name" ?!? I don't want to lose the connection to my printer.

It looks that I am not the only person with such an issue;
https://www.reddit.com/r/AnycubicPhoton … ts_do_not/
