and even then, anyone that actually sees your mechanism could potentially "steal" the design.

A patent is the only way to protect your idea & design.

Hopefully someone who knows about patents might know how I should handle this. I have come up with and built a working prototype of something patent-able in the 3D printing space. I can't afford a patent and I don't really want to deal with the hassle of doing the paper work. I was wondering if anyone know's of a way I can make sure that someone else cant just go and patent my mechanism if I put it up online and block me out of selling it in the future.
