thats strange the xyz filament I get comes in 600g rolls, you get 240m of filament, and there is usually at least 5-10m left on the roll. I dont pay that much for my refills, I can normally get one for just over £20 (especially if I pick and choose the cheapest colours).
on top of that I dont get a lot of waste - while that just may mean that all my models are good, it may also be that the chip puts in the correct settings for the filament. I dont want to be bogged down with the setting up and running of the printer, I just want to hit the button and come back later for the finished print.
on the whole I am happy with what I got, it does its job, I do mine when I design the parts.

Grendel wrote:

this is why you need to purchase the xyz filament, if you continue using the chip from the white cartridge, you will find that you have half a cartridge of white filament you cannot use as the chip will count down the remaining filament, once it reaches 0 it will stop printing. if you purchased an xyz refill and it did not come with a chip, then you need to contact them for the chip as the refills are supposed to come with a new chip. XYZ are generous with the filament and there are always a few metres left over after the chip expires.
but if you replace the XYZ filament with another, the chip will think you are using the white and will still delete the filament from the amount remaining, plus the chip adjusts the heat values of the nozzle and bed for each colour filament to the best value for that filament.

How can you call charging twice the bulk price for half of what you get in bulk generous? The standard third party roll is 1Kg and goes for $15 to $25 on average for mid tier stuff. There is of course more expensive stuff hitting the $60 mark. XYZ rolls only contain 500g and are usually priced at around $30 plus.

The chip sets the temperature for the color. The purple if it is XYZ brand should have had a chip as that chip is required. If it did not then that cartridge is useless. Every color requires different temperatures and the only to control them on the XYZ printers is through the chip that comes on the filament cartridge.

Hi, my school has a davinci jr 1 i think. The white filament works perfectly and consistently. We have purple filament and it constantly lifts off the base and the print head doesn't seem like it lifts up and stays on the same level going over and over its self?
There was a little microchip that came with the white filament and that's the chip im using for the purple as it didn't come with one.
any ideas or sugestions?
Thanks!
