I have a JR and have changed out the whole motor with no effect on the printer whats so ever except to stop the filament from slipping.</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>That wheel is used to detect if the motor is spinning or not and counting steps in each direction. Some motors used in printers use feedback to improve accuracy. If you remove the wheel you will most likely get an error as a failed motor or your accuracy will lessen and you will get poor prints.</p>]]></description>
