[ABS] Generic black

I had just received a new order from Filastruder which included pre-colored black PA757, MG94, and an unknown Gereic ABS. Today, I will be covering the generic black ABS.

In comparison to any other pellets I've seen, the Generic ABS pellets are easily identified by their oval shape with a common pattern of three dimples on each pellet. Since there is such little info on this specific ABS, I was a little scared to start testing with it, fearing I may damage my Filastruder from testing with improper temps, but I took the plunge and was honestly surprised.

Extruder:
Mostly stock Filastruder v1.6 #1870 extruding vertically with full barrel header wrap insulation, melt filter, and a Filawinder

Mixing: No mixing is needed, nor is cleanup. This is a clean-cut extrusion just like virgin extrusion.

Extrusion:
Temp: 190c
Rate: 10-12" per minute
Average diameter: 1.84 +/- 0.03mm
The smell of the extrusion process had a very......interesting note. It was as bold as PA747, but more sour with a citrus hint. This is definitely a polymer you want to crack a door or window for since there is such little info. I was very happy with the speed, but the diameter was a little higher than I would have liked, so maybe bump the temp up a hair next time.

Printer:
Solidoodle 2, E3D v6/Titan/Volcano 0.6mm nozzle, Lawsy carriages, Claghorn's direct Y drive, pillow blocks, bed stabilizer, fishing line, Sanguinololu, DRV8825, mirror bed and Aqua Net.

Printing:
Printing was smooth and actually acted like PA747. By that, I mean the filament cooled quickly and lost most of its gloss. The sour smell was still present while printing but was not as prominent as it was during extrusion.

Comparison to available filament:
I've bought or made at least 100kg of black ABS. The Generic ABS has less of a sheen than MG94 (high gloss), but far more than PA747 (flat), and appears much more like a traditional spool from Octave, Coex, or Hatchbox.

Takeaway and comments:
I really wasn't expecting much from this because of the name on the product. I mean, come on...."Generic"? But I was wrong. It is actually nice to have a polymer to go to when I have to make a quick roll as fast as possible while keeping quality. Much like with the pre colored MG94 black pellets, the color consistency is at the same professional level as a purchased roll. I will definitely be picking some more up in the future.
