I find the ABS slurry in a very thin coat gives a super smooth surface, a razor blade or craft knife blade under an edge usually gets it to release, - that or use a very small amount of slurry on a clean glass bed. i find a small drop about the size of a smallish coin spread thinly using a putty knife (scraper) works very well and separates easily.

ABS must be printed inside an enclosed printer so the temps stay constant and the temps in the print itself stay uniform. You will need to put the printer in an enclosure or cover all the openings on it in order to use ABS. Also I would suggest using a light coat of hairspray on very clean glass to help with adhesion. You can also use ABS slurry which is just some scrap pieces of ABS dissolved in acetone. Spread a thin coat on your bed and let it dry. The issue is this stuff sticks too well and may give you issues removing the part.

Hi it me back again
Im not sure if i should start new topic , so i just write here.

I had managed to print amazing prints with PLA, and everything looked super
However i got myself ABS filament and trouble started...
I not sure it cheap filament or i should increase bed temperature.
First i was using masking type and glue which worked amazing on PLA.
However with heated bed more that 80 masking type doesnt hold and first layers dont stick, so i took it off and printed on bed itself first layers got stuck. And printed however its looks like corners got cut. Im not sure if it bed temperature or leveling a bit stuck for few days now .
Please advise
Ps I'm getting glass bed now

So I got my duplicator today!!!
Thank you all for advising what to do first. I knew strait away how to assemble it
Printer it self looks good, solid. Not some acrylic staff )
However found that power switch doesn't work, first 2 clicks was ok. I could switch it off how ever now it only can be switch off by unplugging. Don't know what should do try to repair myself or return...
Took me 1.5hr to level it, real pain in the back side... But managed it. Done masking type and some glue stick. Now printing what ever was on sd card. Will post photos when printing will be done.

In general very happy with printer THANK YOU again!!! Just that switch bothering me....

I do not recommend any 3D printers. None are really plug and play.

Unlike others, I like the DaVinci machines because of their filament, but I hate their software. With DaVinci, I recommend Simplify3D software. Yes it is pricey, but with DaVinci and other printers, totally worth the cost. I have serial #1 for the DaVinci but that was after a SD2+. And, I tried some kits like QU-BD that were terrible. After fighting that one for a long time, it will become a laser cutter/engraver next.

My SD2+ is awaiting some repairs, usage only, still has the acrylic extruder. My DaVinci 1.0 continues to print well. I purchased a replacement bed, but have yet to install it. Both the SD2+ bed and DaVinci are a bit warped, I just understand the problems and position prints where they print best. Yes, you could take them both apart and flatten the beds, but they may go back to being warped again after remounting.

Both printers have jammed because of filament spool feed problems. Just be aware feed problems happen. Thankfully, no issues except wasted time.

I have an E3D waiting for an SD2+ upgrade. Will go with Lawsy carriages when that happens and probably print them on the DaVinci.

For all printing in 3D, your mileage may vary, sometimes depending on your knowledge and skills.

carl_m1968 wrote:

Did you read any of the reviews on this. The filament seems good but there are multiple complaints about it not being wound well and getting tangled feeding or too much unrolling and tangling between the roll and printer. Seems people have to keep an eye on it or devise a method to keep it feeding correctly. Might not be a good brand for long prints.

Sorry I didn't rephrased my self right. I did read reviews, I understand probably some issues with spool. But in general is it known brand? What would you will recommend ?
