			<description><![CDATA[<p>If you&#039;re looking to get good, detailed scans, forget about anything that works with Kinect, RealSense, or other sensors like them.</p><p>Since you can&#039;t use a dedicated scanner, then the DSLR solution is it.&nbsp; Photoscan is pretty good, but will require quite a bit of work.&nbsp; There are others like it that work by stitching together photos.&nbsp; I did try Photoscan before but I eventually went with a SLS scanner.&nbsp; Simpler to use, and I didn&#039;t need to scan large objects.</p>]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[suggest which 3d scanning software to use]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>These programs are for scanning larger objects, not small pieces which the laser and turntable based ones work with.<br />Some require Kinect (v1) which I have.<br />I hope someone here has experience with them and can give a hint on which on which one to use over the others. Their videos don&#039;t make it very clear which one&#039;s superior in scan quality/detail and mesh triangulation.</p><p>Here are the programs:<br />KScan<br />Skanect<br />Agisoft Photoscan.</p><p>I also found a program called ReconstructMe but few comparison reviews said it is inferior in quality of the scan to Skanect.<br />If there&#039;s another one not in my list you think is worth checking out please mention that too.<br />But I&#039;m required to use either a Kinect or a DSLR camera, or both, no unique hardware. But the program doesn&#039;t have to be free.</p><p>I will be scanning things like cars and statues and retopologising them in my 3d editor. Since I&#039;m not required to not share the scans with 3rd parties I can freely post them at thingiverse.<br />Camera and Kinect can be attached to a tripod with a custom adapter I made and the tripod is attached to a dolly (adds wheels to the tripod). The tripod allows to rotate the camera+kinect holder in 2 axis. </p><p>Thanks in advance.</p>]]></description>
