as cheap as they are, I would order a couple of them now to get them soon while looking for faster sources.

I always take mine apart just warm enough to unscrew by hand using pliers, wrenches and oven mitts.

Again, we do not recommend removing the brass rod! It is never meant to leave the PEEK.

I can understand this warning, and I personally don't like to deal with the individual parts and prefer to just buy the entire hot end, but when you put the individual peek and nozzle up on the site as individual parts that can be bought; it gives off the impression that replacing the individual parts is not an issue. I'm not saying to discontinue the sale of those items as I'm sure many would be upset about that, but it does send a bit of a mixed message when you offer them individually. Perhaps you should put a note on the description of those parts stating its not a good idea to replace these individual parts and should instead buy the entire hotend. That way anybody who isn't aware of the problems with taking the hotends apart can be made aware of it before they purchase the individual parts. Just a thought.

]]> Sat, 09 Mar 2013 23:07:48 +0000 https://www.soliforum.com/post/15722/#p15722 <![CDATA[Re: Can I buy this anywhere local?]]> https://www.soliforum.com/post/15718/#p15718 If you don't get spare parts from Solidoodle, the ones from Makergear are compatible.  The mixshop barrel as an ID of 1.75 which is smaller that the solidoodles, so the filament is likely to catch on the edge of it.  Makergear doesn't sell the barrel separately, you would have to get the groovemount (PEEK barrel) as well.  It might a good idea to do that anyway, if you couldn't get the barrel off that is an indication that the threads had been softened in the past, so there might be trouble with it later.  Unfortunately Makergear is out of stock right now so Solidoodle may be your best bet.

Can someone confirm if the later printers use a smaller ID?  Also would being 8mm longer be an issue from stock?
