In case anyone wants to connect up the XYZ filament sensor, below is a schematic/pinout of the Da Vinci Mini W's filament runout sensor board.

There are actually 2 sensors, just a standard optical sensor indicating the presence of filament or not and a rotary encoder that will toggle output as the filament moves. The encoder's not high resolution - only toggling for every 180 degrees of rotation. I don't know what this equates to in extrusion length.

The PCB includes what I assume to be a buffer on the encoder circuit. Can't actually make out any markings, so I don't know if it's 5v tolerant (3.3v measured at VCC from the XYZ mainboard). Current limiting and pullup resistors are already present, but are obviously sized for 3.3v.

Apologies for the hasty schematic, hopefully someone will find it useful.

What’s the chances with all these conversions someone had a functional hotend logic board for the extruder module. I desperately need one and am afraid what xyz is gonna quote me for a price. It’s a mini w+ but it appears that the minis and jr all seem to use this same hotend
Logic board. Please respond if you have one. My kids are dieing to be able to print again. I don’t mind paying. I’m getting an ender 3 for my person use and moving forward with the hobby but this machine is brilliant for kids.

Hi guys.

I just finished my conversion of a dead Mini to BTT SKR v1.4 Turbo. It uses TMC2208 stepper drivers.
I have hollowed out the bottom and put the board in it. The adapter and the fan duct are from Thingiverse, see attachments.
I also turned the bed into a heatbed by glueing 4 10W resitors under them connected them in parallel to the HB connector on the board. I also attached a thermistor. With that, I consistently get 75°C which is perfect for PLA and PETG.
I have installed a BTT TFT24 in front to get some control directly on the machine, without having to go a browser for OctoPrint.
I removed the NFC board and antenna and installed a RPI 3 in its place. I still have to install the Pi camera and the filament sensors, but everything works well so far including auto bed leveling.

Thanks to anthem and Triple_S for their work, which made this project possible ;-)

You probable can power drivers with 24 volt but the machine should run fine at 12 volts. I have 4 printers only one is set up for 24 volts the other 3 run fine at 12. Also I have never seen any need to modify my ramps boards the work fine off the shelf.

Hey I´m so thankful someone responded! For the endstops, thank you, I will try more tomorrow.

Am i supposed to an a diode? i just replaced the diode beneathe the driver with a 7806C regulator.
But on my current RAMPS I switched IN and OUT of that regulator by mistake. This must shorted my board.

For my steppers, i read something in the RepRap Wiki about powering drivers with 24 volts. There said i have to bend two pins of the driver that they are not connected to the RAMPS. Should i have done that? I haven´t done this because i got a bit confused. Triple_S did not mention something like that.

First of all no need to apologize !! Humans make mistake that is one way we learn.
I have been an electronics tech for over ten years AND STILL MAKE STUPID MISTAKES FROM TIME TO TIME.

my LCD only works when powered over usb.

So sounds like it is working

IMHO the first step of setting up a new machine is setting it up with the computer
I use repiter host but the are other programs like pronterface.

This will allow to troubleshoot end stops , move and home axis one by one level the bed etc . Much easier than the lcd. The lcd is fine for running prints and minor tuning . Also if chitcat is set up you can change firmware setting through your host software.

Your stock ends tops may of may not be compatible with ramps. . or you may need to switch wiring. Or you may just have to flip you logic in firmware.

So set up ramps on your computer

send the m119 command to the board and read endstop states.
trigger the stops one by one and resent the command after the trigger and see if thinks change actually faster to do than explain.

hope this helps.

Based on what you have told us something may be shorted out . If you added a diode they do have polarity it could be in backwards.
The good thing is ramps and arduinos are cheap enough you can always buy a new set and start from scratch.

Hope this helps.

Hi, want to apologise for anything stupid i have done or will do. But i do need some help.
So first, i suppose i stupidly screwed up again and now my LCD only works when powered over usb. Otherwhise the backlite comes on and the LCD stays blank.

Second, i just not be able to move any axis of my Mini. On the Lcd it says "Endstop X" (or y and z) so are my endstops all broken?

I feel so lost right now so if anyone have a good hint or a solution for me i´ll be so glad.
