IE gloves ,hard  hats, boots safety harnesses safety glasses ear plugs etc.

Leather gloves
Crescent wrench
Socket wrench

PPE is important, so gloves are recommended even when using said crescent wrench. Always think of Murphys Law before doing, well, anything. Even with a proper wrench, the heat block can slip and drop onto your wrist; if at the wrong angle, this can cause far more than just a graze.
Go to a Home Depot and get a cheap pair of leather gloves twice your size and a pair of leather work gloves to size. After a few times of wearing both glove pairs they will find their own resting spots and become the perfect hand protectors for hotend work.

Welding gloves of pretty much any kind

Regular welding gloves are way too bulky they are meant for holding a cutting torch, mig gun or electrode holder.  There is no touch or dexterity in these.

Yea, proper welding gloves will never work for holding a nozzle or anything small.

This is also not a true statement . imho tig welding gloves give good feel and dexterity however the leather is somewhat thin and insulation is limited. . they would however protect the hand from an accidental slip . they have a tight fit and allow for tha manipulation on small  diameter filler rod.

At anyrate, I think I'll just keep doing like I've been, carefully. I can find nothing with a tight fit that would allow one to grasp a nozzle and turn it out or such.

The fingers are just too bulky and get in the way more than the helps plus after about two or three times so much plastic gets stuck to them they make a bigger mess than it's worth.

Wondered if anyone has a pair of heat resistant gloves they like to use when changing out hot end components. Like when there was a problem and it got all gummed up and must be heated before you try to unscrew everything. I've been using Channel lock pliers and regular 2 position slip joint pliers, but I bet I'll burn myself one day......psssss, OUCH!
