So, I guess the 7.62x39 upper I have is out of the question I still haven't even tried it on a 22... been bogged down with other work but I was thinking a 9mm upper would probably work as well plus I have a couple of 5.7x28 uppers here I might try out when time permits they don't have much recoil but they use a different system for the buffer so might be worse....

Peek-A-View...hahaha

couple notes for all the printed gun people.

1. Printed lower in ABS works fine as long as you dont set it up with a .223 upper (stick to a .22 upper)

2. I think if you could print one out of Taulman 618 it would easily hold up to 1000+ rnds of .223

one of the lowers was but it only went 88 rounds before they broke it

ok i'm posting a new stl for a 3 part practice gun i've included an area to add weights. The new design works with the handle for a ar15 lower and is only partially based off of an ar 15 lower these should print a little better and be able to be glued together with just a little bit of work

att he end of the vid there is an fdm lower beign printed however that lower only fired 88 rounds before there was an unrelated mechanical problem to the upper. they attempted the stupid way of clearing the problem by beating the butt of the gun on the ground and cracked the lower tower renderign the lower and firearm un servicable

sorry i reread and had to correct the problem was in the upper not the lower as previously indicated. I've talked with several of the peopel involved in the project at defcad.org in the chatroom. they doe stimate the SLA upper would have worked for over 1000 rounds but they ran our of ammo.

we ran a cost analysis on it and a printed abs lower at a 60% infill would cost $4.41 if the abs was $42 per kg and you could print approximately 10.6 units per kg

I agree with splitting it in the middle and printing both halves and gluing it together.
I too also want to try the AR15 lower, but i'm waiting on the release of the .stl for the latest version of it. Over 600 rounds with no issues, that's nuts! I want a bright green lower at the range! Get the good 'ol boys saying, "what the hell" with that crazy southern accent.

cut it in half on the horizontal (with netfab free for example) ... it will print better with less risk of warping and you didn't need support , so you will get a better look... you just need to glue the two parts after that..

I was asked by my brother if i could print a practice gun using some of the files iv' eammased i took a frame and worked this up. Currently i'm printing it at 3mm with a raft and suppro tmatterial print time is about 8 hours and this is approximately 2 hours into the print

i am currently seeing some lift on the barrel end i've been avused i should have used soem abs glue shrug we'll worry about this alter however

Personally i think if i build an encliosure to retain heatit would be far better than glue
