Thinking of drying, I recently got a vacuum chamber for other uses. Could I put a bunch of pellets in there, pull it down and just let it sublimate the water out?

I tried that - but it didn't seem to work as well as my food dehydrator (for PLA) and convection oven (for everything else).  I thought - heat the plastic up to 200F, put it in vacuum chamber, suck air out, and it should boil the water out - but then when I went to use it the plastic had bubbles.  I emptied the hopper back into a glass container, put it in convection oven for 3 hours, and that took care of the bubbles.

Did anybody else get Ultem yet?  Maybe I'll be the first one to review it even if I have to wait for it to warm up some, when it's 22F I'm not going to want to sit there while I tune it - even if it's capable of getting up into the 600s/350C in that kind of environment (which I'm not sure of yet - not with a 15V PSU anyway).

What did everyone else get? I started with PA757, Irogran A85, and the Eastar 6763, all 1lb just to test. The latter I bought based off the great review by genesat1 to be quite honest.

Detached garage - have a pet bird so I keep all plastic related endeavors far far away.  I can still even print out there with PLA and PETG - without a heated enclosure, but I will have to build a heated enclosure for Ultem or EL700 I imagine.

I already have Eastar 6763 and PA747 so I started with Irogran A85, Ultem 1000, Makroblend EL700, Purgepro and Rapidpurge.  Obviously the last two are not meant to be made into filament - but who knows, maybe they could clean nozzles just as well as they clean extruders.

Yeah, I'll pass on acetal. I've done nylon 6, it worked ok but can be difficult to print. I haven't tried nylon 12 yet though. Nylon is kind of annoying, as you have to take apart the machine and throughly clean it out. I really should order some extra nozzles before messing with unknowns as well.

If you hate having to take the machine apart to clean nylon then when Elmoret gets the plastic in be sure to order some of the Purge Pro 100 - here is directly from their website: http://www.ameriplasinc.com/purge-pro-p … mpound.htm

I'm no expert for sure, but from what I understand it should work like Esun's cleaning filament for 3D printers - a very wide temperature range lets you put it in at the higher temperature, it pushes out the higher temperature plastic, but it still can be extruded at lower temperatures to then let you push the purge material out.
